Music To Your Ears

Sheet music photoWhen you hear the word library, sheet music may not come to mind to many of you. The Arts/Literature/Sports Department of the Central Library has an extensive collection of music scores carefully selected over the years. The collection boasts over two thousand volumes of music, which cover a wide array of genres including classical, pop, rock, jazz, inspirational, musicals, wedding, and folk music of the United States and other countries. You will find the works of renowned classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, and Chopin, as well as contemporary artists such as Stephen Sondheim, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and Emmylou Harris.

Whether you’re a professional musician or just starting to play an instrument, we have resources to meet your needs. Members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, church musicians, music teachers, students auditioning for a part in a musical…all come to this “sheet music depot” and find exactly what they need. And it’s all free.

So when you need sheet music, check with the library first!
