BPL Photo Challenge: Peanut Butter & Jelly Day, Thursday, April 2

The BPL Photo Challenge will celebrate National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day on Thursday, April 2.

The Birmingham Public Library is hosting a series of fun, safe photo challenges for our patrons. If you are looking for safe activities to do during this coronavirus pandemic, join us.

The series kicked off with a BPL Photo Challenge Wednesday, April 1, to celebrate National Walking Day.

The second BPL Photo Challenge is Thursday, April 2, which is National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day!

Did you know that the first peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe appeared in the Boston Cooking School Magazine of Culinary Science and Domestic Economics in 1901?

The beloved peanut butter and jelly sandwich became wildly popular during World War II. It was featured on the U.S. Military ration menus. Peanut butter and jelly sales soared after the war because it tasted great and was easy to make.

To participate in our BPL Photo Challenge, post a photo of your peanut butter and jelly jelly sandwich on your Facebook or Twitter pages and add the hashtag #BHM247 to your post.

If you enjoy dressing up your PB&J, let us know how you do it! Any tips or pictures are welcome, said Heather McWilliams, branch manager at Smithfield Library.
