BPL Introduces New Book-A-Librarian: Live & Virtual Adult Programming

Birmingham, do you miss us? We miss you!

Before the pandemic and its necessary social-distancing and limited-occupancy guidelines, Birmingham Public Library locations throughout the city were regularly humming with the activity of our popular Adult Programs throughout the spring and summer months. BPL is bringing it back, both safely and personalized, with its new BOOK-A-LIBRARIAN service.

 BOOK-A-LIBRARIAN will facilitate 30- to 40-minute live and virtual programs to you this spring and summer via Zoom. Anyone can attend live sessions to learn about free library apps, genealogy, handcrafts and much more.

If you have an idea for a session not currently offered, let us know. We'll create one with you. Sessions are created by BPL workers who bring their passion straight to you.

Current options for BOOK-A-LIBRARIAN sessions include:

* Library Material Requests

* Group Library Card Requests

* Group Computer Classes

*  Resume Assistance

* One-on-One Technology Assistance (computer skills, software skills)

*  Library App Demonstrations

* Assisting with Projects

Just click on this link to start your request: https://tinyurl.com/BPLAdultPrograms

 Appointments can be made Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. A BPL staff member will contact you within 2-3 days to confirm your request. Please allow a two-week notice for booking programs.

Several extra sessions will be pre-recorded for around-the-clock access.

All 18 BPL locations are now offering in-person and curbside services Monday through Friday during limited hours. Click here to see a list of our 18 BPL locations and their hours of operation.

 Until we can gather together again on a full-time basis, BOOK-A-LIBRARIAN allows us to be face-to-face, help one another, learn new skills, and follow our passions. We can’t wait to see you (again)!
