  Brittaney Jenkins has had a passion for  educating the public about health issues since even before the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus created a worldwide health crisis over three years ago. On Tuesday, October 17, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Library in downtown Birmingham, the founder of Birmingham's Jenkins Public Health Consulting LLC will present a free workshop "The Infodemic Age: Addressing Health Misinformation and Disinformation." The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) will be hosting three Medicare Open Enrollment counseling sessions in October, November, and December. Two of these sessions will be held at the Central Library on Friday, October 20, and Friday, November 17. The Five Points West Regional Branch Library will host a third session on Friday, December 1.

Punk is back at the library! The January show went viral thanks to the 300+ patrons who came out to the Birmingham Public Library's (BPL) first-ever punk show.  Debuting now as Loud at the Library, three new bands are performing live at the Central Library this Friday, October 13, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The day the sun disappears...w ell, the sun may not be disappearing on Saturday, October 14, 2023, but it will be eclipsed by the moon. This will be an annular eclipse which will only cover part of the sun. In Birmingham, the eclipse will start around 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and end sometime between 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The maximum coverage will take place around 12:08 p.m.
