Resources for Tornado Victims and Ways to Help

The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) hopes that the following list may be of assistance to those affected by the recent storm and to those who would like to volunteer to help. If you would like to add additional information to help those in need, please post in the comments section below.

FEMA - Alabama Severe Storms, Tornadoes, Straight-Line Winds, And Flooding Major Disaster Declared February 1, 2012 (DR-4052) BPL locations are waiving the fax fees for FEMA applications.

Alabama EMA/FEMA Disaster Centers are open in Jefferson County to help those whose homes or businesses were affected by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding on January 22-23. Hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice:

Red Cross Mid-Alabama Region
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
