The  Local Authors Expo is this Saturday, November 4, at the Central Library, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. This expo is a great way to find your new favorite book or connect with other creatives over a shared interest, like local author Chelsea Rodriguez .  Rodriguez is a Librarian Ⅰ at the Central Library who works in the Central Library's Youth Department and as a part of the Outreach Team.

   Sanchez Tanniehill Gospel singer Sanchez Tanniehill of Alabaster has overcome a lot of obstacles in his life. Come learn his testimony of faith depicted in the memoir,  "God Did It, "  as Tanniehill participates in the Birmingham Public Library 2023 Local Authors Expo at the Central Library downtown. Tanniehill has an amazing testimony.  At age 6, he suffered a stroke. Doctors told his parents their son would never learn to walk or talk. Tanniehill defied the odd s and through his songs and new book is helping inspire others.  Tanniehill is the founder of  God Did It Ministries , which aims to share compassion and love in the community by following Jesus example of love for others. Titusville Library Senior Community Resource Day: Expanding the Circle of Support

  Since its inception, the Titusville Branch Community Resource Day has been a beacon of hope for many families facing financial hardships, food insecurity, and limited access to crucial resources. A positive impact has been made on countless lives through the provision of information, health services, facials, manicures, food, and children's/adult diapers throughout the years.  The Titusville Branch Senior Community Resource Day, held monthly at Titusville Branch Librar y,  has been serving the local community for the past two years, providing essential information resources, and support to those in need. In November, Titusville Branch Community Resource Da y will be bigger and better than ever before. A breast cancer forum was held last Friday, on October 19,  at the Titusville Branch . Not only did this event bring together those affected by cancer, but it also featured an extraordinary survivor who beat the disease at the age of 9.  This blog describes the prevailing occasion that took place at the Titusville Library. An inspirational young cancer survivor will be highlighted for her indomitable spirit.  Breast cancer is a formidable adversary that has touched countless individuals and families around the world. Southern Exposure DVDs donated to all Jefferson County Libraries

  Charles Scribner of Black Warrior Riverkeeper with Jefferson County Library Cooperative Board Members holding 2022 "Southern Exposure" DVDs they and Alabama Rivers Alliance donated The award-winning "Southern Exposure" DVD is available for checkout at Jefferson County libraries.  HOMEWOOD, Ala.— Alabama Rivers Alliance and Black Warrior Riverkeeper have partnered to donate to the Jefferson County Library Cooperative (JCLC) 22 copies of the latest editions of Southern Exposure, an award-winning film series dedicated to educating the public about Alabama’s natural resources.  Each of JCLC’s 40 locations will now have a DVD copy of the 2022 edition of Southern Exposure , a series of documentaries on various Alabama environmental topics by independent filmmakers. 18 of the JCLC’s 40 locations are part of the Birmingham Public Library (BPL ) system. Titusville Library Hosting Breast Cancer Month Awareness Walk on Friday, October 20

  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time set aside to acknowledge and celebrate women who have fought and survived breast cancer. Hearts are touched by the pink ribbons seen everywhere during October. Titusville Branch Library is joining in with the community in an effort to highlight the importance for early detection and prevention. In Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness, Titusville Branch Library will join I am Greatness “Pink Out Night,” a walk from Booker T. Washington K-8 School, 115 4th Avenue South , to Titusville Library, #2 6th Avenue SW in Birmingham. The walk will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20.  Join us in spreading the news to women that yearly mammograms help save lives. Help raise awareness about how to reduce risk factors that can cause breast cancer. Meet Dr. Celeste Reese-Willis, BPL 2023 Staff Day Speaker

   Dr. Celeste Reese-Willis, MD. The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) is excited to welcome  Dr. Celeste Reese-Willis,  keynote speaker for the 2023 BPL Staff Day. Known as Dr. Celeste MD from her weekly Monday morning spotlight "House Calls" on CBS 42 in Birmingham, Dr. Celeste will share words of encouragement for library staff at the Central Library this Thursday, October 19.  Dr. Reese-Willis, also known as Doctor Celeste MD, is a Birmingham-based board-certified family medical physician and expert in urgent care. She and her husband, Vincent Willis, Jr., have two daughters, Madisen, 18, and Morgan, 16.  A nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Reese-Willis is author of the 2020 Amazon Best-seller,  Vitality: Your Body Loves You; Love It Back  A Montgomery native, Dr. Celeste is the oldest daughter of five children born to James and Betty Reese.  A 1991 graduate of the LAMP (Lanier academic Motivational Program) of  Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery , she completed a Bac
