If I had to compile a list of the most-consulted books in the Southern History Department,

This is one in the series of Heritage Books for the counties of Alabama and it is an invaluable source of information for genealogists and historians. The text includes local history from the formation of Jefferson County to the time of the book’s publication and contains historical sketches of many small communities, churches, cemeteries, schools, historic homes, and landmarks, along with a family name index that makes this source a gold mine for genealogists in search of their Jefferson County ancestors.

Linda, we are so sorry for the delay in our reply. Mary Anne Ellis, author of the blog entry, has suggested contacting Carl Puckett through his blog.

His father used to work for the publishing company and he has some volumes for sale. Here's a link to his blog he supplied our Southern History Department with back in September:
