Celebrate Halloween @ BPL

Five Points West Regional Branch Library's Active Living program made these Halloween crafts
The Birmingham Public Library is helping our patrons get in the Halloween spirit.

Besides candy giveaways for young patrons at most of our 19 locations across Birmingham during operating hours on Halloween, Thursday, October 31, 2019, there are plenty of free activities for patrons of all ages taking place all week.

Creature Feature – Tarantulas (Springville Road Regional Branch Library and East Lake Branch Library)


Saturday, October 26, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Springville Road Regional Branch Library
Meet and learn about Roni the Honduran curly hair tarantula and Rosie the pink toe tarantula. A movie will follow our meet and greet.

Tuesday, October 29, East Lake Branch Library, 3:15 p.m. 
Join us if you dare to meet one of Springville Road Regional Library's Tarantulas. Learn a few fun facts about our hairy eight-legged friends and how to care for them. After the discussion participants will have the opportunity to pet a real live tarantula! A real Spooktakular event!

Wear your costume as we celebrate Halloween with not-so-scary stories. We’ll even trick or treat in the library! This program has Halloween stories designed specifically for 2- to 4- year-olds. Tot Time is free, but 24-hour advanced registration is required. Call Avondale Library at 205-226-4000.

Family Fun Night – Villain Party, Springville Road Regional Branch Library Monday, October 28, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Join us for an evening of mischief and mayhem! We'll be dressed up as our favorite villains as we enjoy games and tricks and treats. Feel free to dress up as your favorite meanie too! Free but advanced registration required. For more information, call 205-226-4085.

Stories Around the Campfire, Wednesday, October 30, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Avondale Regional Library
Ms. Cas and Mrs. Eve will be hosting a “Stories Around the Campfire” afterschool program geared towards school-aged children.

Halloween Moviethon, Smithfield Branch Library, All day Thursday, October 31, except when the library is closed for lunch 1:00-2:00 p.m. 
Smithfield patrons will be watching Halloween movies all day! Bring a snack and enjoy watching your favorite Halloween flicks.

Costume Trick-or-Treat, North Birmingham Regional Branch Library and Springville Road Regional Branch Library
Wear your Costume and get free treats by visiting various departments all day during operating hours on Halloween, Thursday, October 31 at North Birmingham Library and Springville Road Library.
