Titusville Library August Programs Include Exercise Classes, Crafts, Back to School Rally

 

 

Birmingham, Ala. -  The Birmingham Public Library PR department is spotlighting monthly programs available this fall at our library locations across the city as students return to school. 

Today's spotlight is on Titusville Branch Library, #2 6th Avenue SW. Patrons of all ages have plenty of free activities to attend at Titusville Branch Library throughout August, including its popular weekly exercise class happening this Friday, August 16.

Here is a listing of activities at Titusville Branch during August.  For more information, call (205) 322-1140 or drop by the library during operating hours Monday through Friday. 

Teen/Adult Programs

 Thursday, August 15 at 3:30pm: DIY Mosaic Coasters

- Mosaics are a type of art where small tiles are put together to create a big picture. Join us and make your own DIY mosaic wooden coaster! Feel free to bring in any small beads you'd like to use. First come first serve, as supplies are limited. Teens and adults welcome.

Friday, August 16 (Every Friday at 10:40 a.m.: Senior Exercise Class With Tracy Williams 

 - Fun, easy to follow exercise featuring the wonderful Ms. Tracy Williams! Classes are open to all  who want to get in shape! No experience necessary. Check our Facebook for themes each week.

Wednesday, August 21 at 11:00 a.m.: Cardboard Picasso Faces 

 - Make a Picasso-inspired face out of cardboard to celebrate Senior Citizens Day! 

Teen/Youth Programs 

All Month Long (Through August 30, all day): Back to School Scavenger Hunt

 - Find the classic children's book characters hidden throughout our children's section and win a fun back to school prize! Youth and teens welcome.

All ages/Crafts Thursday, August 15 at 11:00 a.m.: Straw Weaving 

 - Learn a fun and effortless way to weave using yarn and rinking straws! Adults and children are welcome to create their own bracelet, necklace, or hairband by straw weaving. 

 Tuesday, August 27 at 3:30 p.m.: Eat Around the World 

 - Journey across the globe with us as we eat snacks and candies from different countries! All ages welcome. 

Wednesday, August 28 at 3:30 p.m.: Fall Silhouettes

 - Usher in the fall season by making colorful silhouette art! All ages welcome. 

Friday, August 30 at 3:30 p.m.: In School Rally 

- Join us at Titusville Library for a Back-to-School Rally. We'll have clothes, school supplies, hygiene products, and more. Sponsored by American Legion, Sam's, Subway, Amazon, and Nasiha Roho Adinasi Fraternity, Inc.!

Titusville Branch Senior Resource Day, Wednesday, September 4,  10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Titusville Branch Community Resource Day, Thursday, September 5, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

Titusville Branch Miss Senior Titusville Library Pageant, Wednesday, October 30, 11:00 a.m.

Coming up on October 30 at 11:00 a.m., Titusville Branch will host the Miss Senior Titusville Library Pageant, open to contestants ages 55+. Details are still being worked out, but patrons can sign up now. Register in person t #2 6th Avenue SW or call the library at (205)-322-1140 for questions.
