Loud at the Library Returns Aug. 21 with Free Punk Show at Birmingham Public Library

Admission: Free and open to all ages

Details: Loud at the Library returns with its fourth punk show, featuring Birmingham bands Nowhere Squares, Tiffany Tears, and SUPERFUND. The concert is free and open to the public. 

Loud at the Library is sponsored through a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts awarded to the Friends Foundation of the Birmingham Public Library.

Birmingham Public Library Presents “Loud at the Library Punk Show on August 21 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Punk music is returning to the Birmingham Public Library.

The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) will host its fourth fifth Loud at the Library Punk Show from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Birmingham Public Library, 2100 Park Place.

The free, all-ages concert will feature performances by three Birmingham bands:

  • Nowhere Squares
  • Tiffany Tears
  • SUPERFUND

Whether you're a longtime punk fan or simply curious about Birmingham's independent music scene, Loud at the Library offers a unique opportunity to experience live local music inside one of the city's most unexpected venues.

Meet the Bands

Nowhere Squares

For more than three decades, Nowhere Squares has been one of Birmingham's most energetic garage-punk bands, delivering fast-paced songs and explosive live performances.

Known for blending classic garage rock with punk energy, the band has built a loyal following through its high-energy concerts and memorable recordings.

Tiffany Tears

Tiffany Tears is a Birmingham-based darkwave and goth project featuring instrumentation by B. Sonnier.

Combining brooding synthesizers, driving electronic rhythms and powerful vocals, Tiffany Tears creates atmospheric music influenced by post-punk, deathrock and goth synth-pop.

SUPERFUND

SUPERFUND is one of Birmingham's newest punk and riot grrrl-inspired bands.

According to the band's biography:

"From North Carolina to Louisiana, Birmingham's SUPERFUND has roots spanning the lengths of the American South. But this ain't country music, y'all. It's a collection of songs speaking to the realities of adulthood, current events and life during late-stage capitalism."
