The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) is excited to announce the launch of our new and improved library mobile app! Featuring a more engaging home screen and better functionality, the app can easily connect you with the library using your mobile device.
With the new app you can:
- Use your digital library card at public service desks or self-checkout stations
- Find the closest Birmingham Library location near you, including their phone number and hours conveniently displayed
- Search the catalog—browse our extensive collection of books with just a few taps on your phone and explore new authors and different genres
- Check book availability in real-time and place holds
- Access e-books, audiobooks, magazines, movies, and music
- Review all items you have checked out with your account, both physical and digital, and renew items
- Link additional cards and family members’ accounts all in the same app to manage various accounts
- Browse, search, and register for all types of events: storytimes for toddlers, STEAM programs for teens, or workplace etiquette tips for adults
- Utilize our web resources for e-learning, genealogy, money matters, personal interests, research, and more.

If you already have the Birmingham Public Library mobile app, it should have updated automatically. If your app did not automatically update, please visit the App Store or Google Play and search for Birmingham Public Library, then click Update.
