Time is running out if you want to attend 2026 Classic Cocktails, the Birmingham Public Library's kickoff part to Magic City Classic Week.

As of Tuesday, October 13, there were only 50 individual tickets left ($50 a person). All group tables are now sold out.

Classic Cocktails, BPL's 5th annual fall fundraiser, is happening Tuesday, October 27,  from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Central Library downtown (2100 Park Place). This isn’t just another party; it’s a high-energy celebration in a space that already serves as a safe hub for our city year-round.

Classic Cocktails, BPL's kickoff party to 2026 Magic City Classic Week, is the perfect way to kick off preparation of the annual football clash between Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University.

The Friends Foundation of the Birmingham Public Library is the title sponsor of 2026 Classic Cocktails.

Other Classic Cocktails sponsors are:

Bettina Byrd-Giles - Team Player

HBCU Cares - Safety Goal

CEAF - Safety Goal

Magic City Media - DJ Sponsor

Canvas on Morris - Cigar Bus Sponsor

As fans of Alabama's two largest HBCU institutions gather to get ready for the largest Black college football classic in the nation, BPL is transforming for one night only into a stunning, nightclub-inspired venue lit in maroon and white (Alabama A&M) and black and gold (Alabama State). It’s where you’ll see friends, make new connections, and set the tone for the rest of Classic Week.

More than just a party, Classic Cocktails supports the Birmingham Public Library’s mission to provide the highest quality experience to our community for lifelong learning, cultural enrichment and enjoyment.
