Today we are spotlighting programs at 3 libraries: Powderly, Woodlawn and Wylam. Among the highlights:  * At Powderly Branch Library , middle and high schoolers are invited to attend "Comics in Color: Black History Gets Graphic" at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21. This comic book discussion will highlight African Americans' role in graphic novels/comic books. There will be video demonstrations and vintage comic books to win as door prizes.    * Adults are invited to "Faces: African Mask Making at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22 at the Powderly  Branch .  The presenter will be Kimmy Contrell, a contemporary artist from Atlanta who makes beautiful African masks.   This is the cover of Monica King Slater's debut single " Cream with Your Coffee" Monica King Slater is known as" BPL's Songbird" Monica King Slater, an independent recording artist and songwriter of Cream With Your Coffee,  will be the next featured artist as Jazzie K Ward presents "Jazzie After Dark Artist Talk" via Facebook Live at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023.  By day, Monica King Slater is a library assistant of nearly 20 years at the Central Library downtown. BPL is doing weekly spotlights on some of the  70+ programs happening across almost all BPL locations and changing  exhibits  and displays at the Central Library for  Forging Justice . The theme for 2023 is “ Black Resistance .”  Today's spotlight is Five Points West Regional Library. Join the Five Points West Library at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, for a special Senior Valentine's Day Dinner and a Movie with a look at true black excellence featuring a Sidney Poitier Film.
