BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. — The
North Birmingham Regional Branch Library will mark a century of service to the
community with a free, family-friendly 100th Anniversary Celebration on
Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Residents,
families, community leaders, and members of the media are invited to attend
this milestone event honoring 100 years of providing access to literacy,
lifelong learning and free programs/services for residents of the North
Birmingham area. The celebration will feature live music, food, and
fun activities.
A
highlight of the event will be the unveiling of a new 3D printer, offering
young patrons hands-on access to cutting-edge technology and creative learning
opportunities. The celebration is free, but advanced registration is
required to participate in the children’s 3D printer program.

Investing
in the Future: North Star Learning Lab
In
November 2025, the library expanded its impact with the launch of the North
Star Learning Lab, a free, open-access technology space available during all

The lab
provides resources for students, job seekers, entrepreneurs, and lifelong
learners, reinforcing the library’s role as a hub for digital literacy and

North Birmingham Regional Branch Library
Established
in 1926, the North Birmingham Regional Branch Library was the first branch
built solely through the financial efforts of the Library Board and City
Commission. The current 14,000-square-foot facility, opened on October 2, 1994,
helping BPL fulfill its mission to provide the highest quality experience to
our community for lifelong learning, cultural enrichment and enjoyment.
