About the author:  Roxie Pearson is an author featured in Victorious Women of Purpose. The book is a collection of real-life stories about women overcoming many challenges. In her case, Pearson shares her story of dealing with domestic abuse over a 30-year marriage. Each woman featured has a different story, and their journey has taken them on different paths. The greatest common denominator of the seven women featured in the book is each of them have emerged from their trials victorious.

Come meet Pearson and other writers participating in the 2024 BPL Local Authors Expo this Saturday, November 2 at the Central Library downtown. The free event, being held between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., will feature 30 authors selling and autographing books. This year's theme is  "AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Publishing."

In a Q&A with BPL, Pearson says she was inspired to share her story in order to help other women gain the strength to leave abusive relationships.

BPL: Tell me about the book Victorious Women of Purpose and what inspired you to write it.

Pearson: My book is the reality that domestic violence is real. After enduring 30 years of abuse, I was finally able to escape. While I was hiding for 30 days in another state, my husband/abuser began to stalk my family. ON June 21, 2013, he went to one of my sisters' homes, demanding to know my whereabouts. He murdered my sister and her husband, shot and stabbed them to death and set the house on fire. My family and I went through two days of grieving before we found out that my husband had done it.

BPL: What do you hope readers get from reading your book?

Pearson: Before marriage, do your due diligence and never ignore the red flags. After 30 years of abuse, I wanted to break the silence.

BPL: Any advice to those who desire to write a book?

Pearson: Everyone has a story and someone needs to hear yours.
