Tri-County Ala Chapter of the Links Presents BPL's Local Authors Expo This Saturday, November 2

  The Birmingham Public Library 2024 Local Author Expo Presented by the T ri-County (Alabama) Chapter of The Links, Inc. is this Saturday, November 2. Come meet nearly 30 authors from across Alabama from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the first floor of the Central Library in downtown Birmingham, 2100 Park Place.   We still have a few slots left, but the registration deadline is this Wednesday. Authors can register to participate for $30 apiece.  To register as an author, click here.   This year's theme is "AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Publishing."   Our featured speakers are:  * Dr. Idrissa N. To help  patrons get in the Halloween spirit, BPL is hosting 40 programs, events and activities during October, including 21 happening between today, Friday, October 25, and Halloween next Thursday, October 31. 2024 Classic Cocktails Spirits Tasting to Feature Sweet Home Spirits & Red Eye Louies

  “Classic Cocktails: Let Loose in the Library” is set to take place from 5:30-9 pm tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 22, at downtown’s Central Library, 2100 Park Place.  If you haven’t purchased your ticket, now is the time! This event will SELL OUT, purchase tickets on Eventbrite at BIT.LY/BPLCC24  Among the many fun things scheduled for tomorrow’s event is a spirits tasting showcasing products from two local companies. Representatives from Sweet Home Spirits and Red Eye Louies will be on hand to wow guests with their yummy creations.  Th e Leeds-based Sweet Home Spirits crafts several versions of Bourbon Whiskey, while Birmingham-based Red Eye Louies specializes in unique Tequila-based blends, including their Vodquila, Rumquila, Whisquila, and Plata Tequila. Get in the Halloween Spirit Early at the Birmingham Public Library

  Birmingham, Ala. – The Birmingham Public Library has plenty of free programs and events to help patrons get in the Halloween spirit throughout October. BPL libraries across the City of Birmingham are hosting nearly 40 Halloween activities this month, including 31 being held between October 16 and October 31. The Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama Comes to BPL

  Phoenix King, Independence The Birmingham Public Library   is privileged to host the Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama (HKAS) during the month of October. The exhibition features 40 pieces of art created by students with visual impairments, blindness, and/or deaf blindness from across the state of Alabama. HKAS is on display in the First Floor Gallery at the Central Library  through October 30, 2024.  A reception will take place in the gallery on Friday, October 18, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Children who participate in the Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama use various media to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Most of the artworks in the exhibition have tactile components and can be experienced by viewing as well as through the sense of touch. The pieces are produced in public, private, residential, and home schools. BPL is the sixth venue to host the show this year.
