Birmingham Public Library Hosting 256 Free Summer Reading Programs In June and July


 
The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) is hosting 256 Summer Reading  programs for patrons of all ages - from toddlers to senior citizens - at 16 library locations across the city this summer.   

 Registration for Summer Reading is open now at any BPL locations. You can also register in person at BPL's 2024 Summer Reading Kick-Off at Avondale Park, 4101 5th Avenue South, this Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. 


Among the highlights:



*Alabama Ballet: A Look inside the daily life of a professional ballet dancer. Participate in fun exercises and enjoy a performance by Alabama Ballet Company dancers. Performances at 5 Birmingham libraries in June

* Get Rhythm: Just Imagine A World Full of Music! - Join us as internationally known drumming facilitator John Scalici, founder of Get Rhythm, presents drum circle fun. No musical experience necessary to participate. Performances at 6 Birmingham libraries in June.

* McWane Science Center Demonstration, 15 Birmingham libraries between June 5 and July 24.



* Hoops For Fitness: Join the Hoop Lady for creative movement fun and adventure as she presents the history of that circle we call the "hula hoop." Registration required.
