2025 BPL Local Authors Expo Spotlight: Nicole Williams

Faith in Action: Nurse and Author Nicole Catrice Williams Shares Stories of Gratitude and Grace

As a nurse for 26 years, Nicole Catrice Williams has witnessed God’s miracles daily in lives being saved. As a mother, she’s seen how children are gifts from God. So as an author, it’s no surprise that Nicole’s faith shines brightly through her books.

Her latest children’s book, Thankful (May 2025), features a little girl expressing gratitude to God for the way He made her. Through gentle, faith-filled storytelling, Nicole reminds young readers to see everyday blessings and to end each day with a grateful heart.

Come meet Nicole at the Birmingham Public Library 2025 Local Authors Expo, presented by the Tri-County (Alabama) Chapter of The Links, Inc. on Saturday, November 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Central Library in downtown Birmingham, 2100 Park Place. She will join 30 authors from across Alabama sharing their books, stories, and creative journeys. This year's theme is "Local to Global."

Follow the Local Authors Expo on the BPL website as well as our Facebook page for more information.

A native of Tuscaloosa, Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama. A devoted wife and mother, she uses her writing to uplift, inspire, and help others strengthen their faith. Nicole and her husband, Rufus, have been married for 25 years.

What inspired you to start writing?

Nicole: English was always my favorite subject in school, but I never thought I’d become an author. In 2022, God gave me the idea to write a children’s book. I enrolled in a writing class, and through that experience, published both my first children’s book, God Gave Me You, and my workbook, Trust in God, the following year.

My son Nicholas is 22 and my daughter Allison is 14. Many of the illustrations used in my first book 'God Gave Me You' were based off of snapshots of them when they were growing up (from the time they were born to the day when my son left home for  college). So in essence,  they also inspired me as well. My book 'Thankful' was written with my daughter in mind as I wanted to remind her of how God loves her and to be grateful for how he made her and for the  gifts and talents he has placed in her. The books are something that they both can one day share with their own kids.

Can you tell us a little about your latest book?

Nicole: Thankful was published in May 2025. It tells the story of a little girl who expresses to God how thankful she is for the way He made her. It encourages children ages 3–8 to appreciate God’s blessings and to end each day with gratitude.

How has your experience as an Alabama author shaped your voice?

Nicole: My experience has motivated me to keep creating books that uplift and inspire children. I want them to see positive images that reflect themselves and to know that they are loved, valued, and wonderfully made.

If you could share one message from your book with the world, what would it be?

Nicole: Every child should know that they are beautiful just the way God made them — and that they are deeply loved by Him.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to aspiring writers?

Nicole: Seek out opportunities to learn about the writing and publishing process. Take a class, connect with other authors, and attend events like this Expo. Be willing to invest in yourself — and never stop believing that your story matters.

Where can readers find your books?

Nicole: My books are available on Amazon and at www.NicoleCatrice.com.
