The political assassinations in the United States during the 1960s had a profound impact on American society that reverberates to this day. Much of the disillusionment and distrust that characterizes our current political environment can be traced back to the murders of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X that were committed during that eventful decade.
The details of these atrocities, and their connections to each other, are the topic of the newly published book, Martyrs to the Unspeakable: The Assassinations of JFK, Martin, Malcolm, and RFK, authored by Birmingham writer and activist, Jim Douglass.
Beginning where he left off in his previous book, JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters, Douglass makes a strong case that the same elements in the U.S. government’s security apparatus that targeted President Kennedy for his commitment to a creating a more peaceful alternative to Cold War international relations were likewise responsible for engineering the deaths of three of America’s most prominent advocates for social change during the 1960s.
Jim Douglass will be at the Central library on Saturday November 15, 2025 to discuss the research and writing of Martyrs to the Unspeakable: The Assassinations of JFK, Martin, Malcolm, and RFK. He will also take questions from the audience following the presentation.
Burdock Book Collective will make copies of the book available for purchase and signing by the author.
