BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Whether your playlist features banjos, electric guitars or soulful harmonicas, Birmingham Public Library has something for you this summer. Beginning this Saturday, July 18, Birmingham Public Library's Loud at the Library concert series will launch an exciting three-month run of free performances featuring three distinctly different musical genres: bluegrass, punk rock and blues.

All concerts are free and open to the public and will be held at the Central Library, 2100 Park Place in downtown Birmingham.

The musical journey begins with a blue grass concert featuring The Yellow Dandies on Saturday, July 18, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Known for their energetic performances and "hootin', hollerin' and absurdly good music," The Yellow Dandies will perform an afternoon of traditional bluegrass and old-time string music. After their concert, the band invites audience members to grab their acoustic guitars, banjos and join a community jam session that will continue until 4 p.m.

"We're excited to offer music lovers the opportunity to experience three completely different musical styles in one concert series," said Weston Flippo, Outreach coordinator of BPL’s Loud at the Library series. "Whether you love bluegrass,  punk rock or the blues, Loud at the Library demonstrates that libraries are vibrant community gathering places where people can discover and celebrate every kind of culture."
