Women's Spotlight: The Fit and Fabulous Ernestine Shepherd, Aging Beautifully

Although Women’s History Month has passed, it is not too late to celebrate phenomenal women inspiring us throughout the year. I would like to give a big shout out to the phenomenal Mrs. Ernestine Shepherd.

She will truly inspire you. This 84 years young beauty from Baltimore is known for being the world’s oldest living female body builder at one point and has won two bodybuilding titles. She also worked as a model. She is simply AMAZING!

Mrs. Shepherd started regularly exercising at age 56, which proves it’s never too late. She began her journey (inspired by her late sister) slowly and gradually conditioned her body with the help and guidance of an expert personal trainer.

She competes in 5K and 10K races and even runs marathons.

Currently Mrs. Shepherd leads exercise classes for senior citizens and works as a personal trainer herself.

In 2016, Mrs. Shepherd wrote a book entitled Determined, Dedicated, Disciplined To Be Fit: The Ageless Journey of Ernestine Shepherd. She also appeared briefly in Beyonce's 2020 video Black Is King. Shepherd's appearance in Beyonce's hit video album, which debuted last July on Disney Plus, came through her longtime trainer and manager.

Her determination, drive and diligence added fuel to my burning desire to be fit. I love how committed she is and how she is devoted to teaching others how to stay fit.

This ageless angel is my shero!
