Southside Library Hosting "Back to One" Series Author Antonia Gavrihel on August 2

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, BPL's Southside Branch Library is proud to host Birmingham area writer Antonia Gavrihel,  author of the award winning Back to One book series.

Beginning at 1:00 p.m., Antonia Gavrihel will share her journey in creating this series of books along with her writing process. Gavrihel will also read selected passages from her latest book. Released in 2021, Back to One  was recognized as a Finalist in the Chick Lit category for the National Excellence in Indie Literature and shortlisted for the Chanticleer International Book Award.

Back to One is the story of Catherine Leigh and Kyle Weston, who appear to have the perfect friendship—deep, lasting, and platonic. Friendship without sex? The world of gossip doesn’t buy it.

You see, Catherine is beautiful, trusting, and married. Kyle is single, charming, a handsome movie star with a tabloid reputation. Their bond may be magical and honest, but will the boundaries they have created to protect their friendship ultimately destroy it?

Gavrihel's website tells the powerful story of how Back to One went from a vision to becoming a book over 25 years later during the COVID-19 pandemic. She originally had the idea when her son was 2 in 1994, but her busy life as a lawyer and other matters tabled it. She finally published the book in 2021 at the urging of her now adult son.

The second book in the series, Back to One: Take 2 Ambient Light, was released a year later in September 2022. Ambient Light continues Cate and Kyle's journey in Hollywood, building careers to new heights while striving to have everyday lives. The public's interest in the two friends has intensified, becoming more invasive... and dangerous. Their relationship is unmercifully tested in today's age of gossip.

The third book in the series,  Back to One: Take 3 - Cinema Verite, was released in May 2023. In Cinema Verite, Cate and Kyle's pasts disrupt their present through both their children and flourishing careers. Set during the pandemic, the strength of their friendship and love is tested.
