Dannon Project, Birmingham Public Library Hosting Civic & Wellness Fair March 6
Do you want to get a free health checkup, gain access to numerous healthcare resources, and give the gift of life by donating blood at the same event?
The Dannon Project and the Birmingham Public Library are co-hosting a 2019 Community Health & Career Fair on Wednesday, March 6, 2019. The event, taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Central Library, will include a blood drive, career fair, and wellness fair featuring vendors offering healthcare services and resources.
During the blood drive, all blood donors will receive a free cholesterol screening and recognition item from LifeSouth Community Blood Centers. Donors must be 16 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, and show a photo ID. Those age 16 must have written parental permission to give.
The Civic & Wellness Fair will include free services such as:
- Blood pressure check
- Diabetes screening
- Vision screening
- Glucose and cholesterol screening
- STD/HIV screening
- Blood drive
- A Career fair featuring resources available for job seekers
- Information on other health-related topics
Among the vendors are: Kelly Service, Dannon Training Institute, Disability Rights & Resources, The Cochran Firm, Regions Bank, Cargus Eyecare, NRS, One Roof, FGC, Vital Smiles, Jefferson County Commission, PSI Principal Staffing, Cahaba Valley Health Care, Birmingham City Schools, and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Last October, the Dannon Project and BPL partnered to host a similar Fall Fest and Voter Registration Drive.
