Holiday Happenings are coming to an end here at the Birmingham Public Library! Thank you for celebrating with us, and we hope you enjoyed all the fun festivities. But Holiday Happenings are not over yet!

There are still several programs happening this week across 6 library locations, like movie marathons, board games, a Kwanzaa celebration, and a DNA ancestry program. Keep reading to see what is happing at the BPL this week!

Getting the Most from Your DNA Ancestry Test

Wednesday, December 28, starts at 12:00 p.m. (Zoom program)

Many people will receive DNA test kits as holiday gifts, but most of them will never experience the full array of features and benefits that come with their test results. Paul Boncella provides an overview of DNA testing basics, a guide to setting up your account for full access, a preview of what you can expect to find in the results, and suggestions on how you can optimize your DNA ancestry experience. During the week of Kwanzaa, we will recognize and celebrate Ujima, Collective Work & Responsibility. Crafts symbolic of Ujima and other principles will be created along with a chat about the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa.
