Pratt City Branch Library Hosting E-Entertainment Open House, Tuesday, January 2
Do you have loved ones or friends who might enjoy using their own devices to read, watch movies, and even get crafting lessons for free with their library cards? If you or someone else is missing out on library digital services, like Libby + Craftsy, Hoopla, and Kanopy, join the Pratt City Branch Library for our E-Entertainment Open House!
Coming up in the new year, the Pratt City Library will host an E-Entertainment Open House every first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. You can bring your own devices and your library card, and we will help set up an account for whichever services you are interested in. No registration is required for this program!
The first open house is on Tuesday, January 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 509 Dugan Avenue.
Pratt City staff will also be available to answer questions about the digital services the library offers and guide you through demonstrations of how to use them at home.
All you need to do is bring your tablet, smartphone, Kindle, laptop, or any other device you have and your up-to-date library card! These digital services require a library card to create an account.
If you don't have an active card, you can also get one from the Circulation desk while attending our program.
Adults registering for a library card will need a government-issued photo I.D. and proof of current address if the I.D. lists another address. A bill or mail with your name and current address on it is accepted as proof of address. Minors aged 14 and under must have a parent or guardian present with the previously listed required materials to get a card; minors aged 15–17 can register for a card on their own with the same required materials.
Check out the Birmingham Public Library's page on library cards for more information about getting one. Call the Pratt City Library at 205-791-4997 if you have questions about getting a card as a resident outside of Jefferson County, as a college/boarding school student, or as someone living in temporary housing.
It can get confusing to figure out how each service works and how to get started, so stop by the Pratt City Library during our E-Entertainment Open House to learn more and get set up with new resources!
