Adventure Begins at East Ensley Library: 2024 Summer Reading Spotlight

The Birmingham Public Library (BPL) 2024 Summer Reading activities, called Adventure Begins at Your Library, kick off next week. During June and July, BPL is hosting 256 programs for patrons of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. Patrons can register for Summer Reading 2024 at any BPL location and be entered into a raffle for a grand prize and win smaller prizes throughout the summer for completing our B-I-N-G-O cards!

BPL is shining the spotlight on all 16 of our libraries that are hosting special summer programs. You can check out all of our Summer Reading 2024 programs by location, date, and time on the BPL website.

Today is our first BPL Summer Reading Spotlight: East Ensley Branch Library.

East Ensley Branch is hosting 15 Summer Reading programs - 4 for all ages, 7 youth programs, and 4 teen/adult programs. 

East Ensley Branch Manager Kenyata Rodgers  said she is excited about all of them, but wants to highlight 4 programs in particular:


* Scrapbooking, Friday, June 14, 11:00 a.m. (teen/adult) 
    
Get your vacations out of the cloud. Learn to preserve your photos and present them in an artful manner for your family and friends to enjoy.
* Get Rhythm, Monday, June 24, 3:00 p.m. (all ages)

Just Imagine... a World of Music! The adventure is in the beat of the drum. Join East Ensley Branch as John Scalici, founder of Get Rhythm, presents an afternoon of drum circle fun. No music experience is required. All you need is a heart and a beat - a heartbeat.

* Slicing With Madden Madness, Tuesday, July 16, 1:00 p.m. (teens)

So you think you have mastered Madden, the popular NFL football game? Prove it. Show off your skills in competition with your friends at East Ensley Library. Pizza will be provided (until it's gone)
                  

* Board Game Palooza, Friday, July 19, 1:00 p.m.

Join East Ensley Branch for an afternoon of competition and fun. Today's board games will take you on adventures near and far.

These are just a few of the many free Summer Reading programs happening at East Ensley Branch and other BPL locations across the city throughout June and July.
