Adventure Begins at North Birmingham Regional Library: 2024 Summer Reading Spotlight
2024 Summer Reading is now in July at the Birmingham Public Library.
16 BPL locations across the city are hosting 256 combined Summer Reading programs for kids, teens, adults and senior citizens during June and July. The 2024 theme is "Adventure Begins at Your Library."
BPL is spotlighting each of our library's Summer Reading programs. Today's spotlight is on North Birmingham Regional Library, 2501 31st Avenue North. North Birmingham Library is hosting 32 programs this summer - 19 for youth, 6 for teens, 6 for adults and one for all ages.
Among the Summer Reading programs happening at North Birmingham July during July:
* Game On! Thursday, July 24, as interactive gaming stations will be available for teens all day long.
* Bob Ross Paint Along, Thursday, July 18, 1:00 p.m. as patrons of all ages paint a beautiful scene and experience the joy of painting the Bob Ross Paint Along.
*Chopped: Teen Edition, Tuesday, July 16, 12:00 p.m. Contestants will be challenged to create tasty dishes with random contents in a basket. Registration required.

Youth Programs
Animal Safari Scavenger Hunt, July 1- July 31 during library hours
Explore the wild jungles of Africa and search the youth department for clues as you learn about the exotic animals of the wild.
Adventures in Storyland: Story Safari, Wednesday, July 3, 10:30 a.m.
Join Ms. Pamela for a story safari with jungle stories, songs, and a make-and-take craft. Registration required.
Adventures in Space - Tuesday, July 9, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Blast off on an adventure into outer space. Learn about and make paper rockets. Crafts will be available while supplies last.
Art Attack: Surfboard - Tuesday, July 9, 10:00 a.m.
Begin an ocean adventure and get creative. Design your surfboard. Registration required.
Journey Into the Unknown! Thursday, July 11, 10:00 a.m.
Open a good book and open the door to a science adventure. With great stories of daring exploits as our guide, join the McWane Center to reveal the invisible, brave fiery dangers, uncover wonders beneath the surface of the earth, and soar through the skies at your library.
Adventures Movie Marathon, Friday, July 12, 10:00 a.m.
Sit back, relax, and set sail for an adventure with us as we enjoy a movie and refreshments.
Wind Chimes, Tuesday, July 16, 10:00 a.m.
Adventure is in the air! Make wind chimes with us and listen to the sounds of summer. Assorted craft kits will be available while supplies last.
3D Hot Air Balloon Craft, Tuesday, July 23, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Take off on an adventure in a hot air balloon that features a 3D balloon and a pulley system to make it fly. Craft kits will be available while supplies last.
Game On! Thursday, July 24, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Begin and adventure and get your game on! Several fun interactive gaming stations will be available.
Teen Programs
Wonderful Creations With Mrs. T, Monday, July 8, 1:30 p.m.
Join Mrs. LaTonya Silas in a wonderful adventure to create beautiful and distinctive jewelry that you can wear, centerpieces that you can display, and skills that you can develop.
Bob Ross Paint Along, Thursday, July 18, 1:00 p.m.
Feel free to paint a beautiful scene and experience the joy of painting at the Bob Ross Paint Along.
Adventurous Tote Bag, Tuesday, July 16. 10:00 a.m.
Use your creativity and sense of adventure to color your own tote bag.
Chopped: Teen Edition, Tuesday, July 16, 12:00 p.m.
