Adventure Begins at Southside Library: 2024 Summer Reading Spotlight
Looking for fun things to do this summer? The Birmingham Public Library is hosting 256 free programs, activities and events during June and July for patrons of all ages as part of BPL's 2024 Summer Reading: Adventure Begins at Your Library.
BPL is spotlighting each of our library's programs this summer. Today's spotlight is on Southside Branch Library, 18 14 11th Avenue South. Southside Branch is hosting 13 programs -two for all ages, six for youth and five for teens and adults.
Here a few programs for youth, teens and adults recommended by Southside Branch Manager Pamela Jessie:
Adventures in Art: Scraper Painting (Youth), Today, Wednesday, June 12, 10:00 a.m.
Let your inner artist shine and express your creativity while learning to make your own unique piece of art. Remember, it's all about the process, not the outcome! Limited supplies.
Adventures in Nature: Build and Decorate Your Own Bird House (Youth and Teens), Tuesday, June 18, 10:00 a.m.
Here is a fun way to get the family together to engage in bird watching: Building and decorating your own bird house! This is a great way to care for our feathered friends. Keep a little journal of the bird you see so you can learn more about them. Limited supplies. 24-hour advanced registration required.
Adventures in Gardening: Grow Your Own Indoor Herb Garden, Monday through Friday, June 24-28, 9:00 a.m. - Adults
Using materials from the Seed @ Southside Seed Library, this Grab n 'Go kit will offer our adult patrons all the materials they need to start their own indoor herb garden. These gardens will provide fresh herbs for everything from creating delicious dinners to brewing your own cups of tea. Grow kits are available while supplies last.
Make Your Own Pressed Flower Bookmarks, Monday through Frida, July 15-19, 9:00 a.m. Teens and Adults.
Save your place in your next book with a beautiful, pressed flower bookmark. Drop by and pick up a grab n 'go kit so that you can create your own unique and personalized bookmark. Kits are available while supplies last.
