Details: The instructor for the Self-Care Mastermind: Community Edition 2025 series is Christina (C. J.) Wade. Ms. Wade is a licensed massage therapist and certified health coach. Birmingham, Ala. - Whether you have been meditating for a while or are completely new to it, there is always more to learn about this ancient and varied practice that directs our minds towards deep and sustained contemplation and reflection. Maybe you are looking for a more disciplined approach to reducing stress and anxiety, or maybe you are hoping to cultivate a deeper spiritual experience, or maybe you just want to relax better.
Whatever your meditation goals are, plan to attend "Meditate on What?, " the next edition of the Birmingham Public Library's 2025 Self-Care MasterMind series, at BPL's Central Library downtown on Tuesday May 6, 2025.

BPL Catalog - Using the Birmingham Public Library catalog, you can search for books, magazines, audiobooks, dvds, and downloadables, held by all the public libraries in Jefferson County. Use the following subject terms to find material about meditation.
Research databases can be accessed on computers at all Birmingham Public Library locations during operating hours and from your home or office 24/7 with a valid JCLC library card. The following databases are reliable sources for magazine and scholarly journal articles on topics related to meditation.
The following databases can also be accessed through the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) website.
• Alt HealthWatch: Provides in-depth coverage of complementary and alternative medicine, offering full text articles from peer-reviewed journals, reports, newsletters, pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts.
• Health Source: Consumer Edition: Provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines.
• Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition: provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Coverage of nursing and allied health is particularly strong.
Hoopla and Libby are apps that you can used to browse the content of hundreds of magazine titles, as well as giving you access to downloadable ebooks and audiobooks. The magazine collection on Libby includes health and wellness titles such as Health, Men’s Health, Prevention, and Women’s Health that contain articles on self-care topics such as meditation. All you need to start reading is your valid JCLC library card.
