Join BPL for Week 3 of 2024 Holiday Happenings, December 16-21

 


Birmingham, Ala. - Happy holidays from the Birmingham Public Library (BPL)!

 We are in Week 3 of BPL's Holiday Happenings, with 31 free programs taking place at BPL locations across Birmingham  through Saturday. In all, 14 of our libraries across the city are hosting over 80 free programs throughout December. We have programs, events and crafts for patrons of all ages, from holiday concerts to story time for kids, line dance classes at North Birmingham Library and Titusville Library and crafting for adults. 

Among events this week: East Ensley Branch Library is hosting an African Fashion Show featuring models 65 and older this Thursday, December 19, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Our holiday events also include a free concert at noon this Thursday, December 19, at Five Points West Library during a Holiday Open House featuring music from Halo Wheeler and David Talley IV.

Grab & Go for Grown-Ups 

Pick up a grab & go scratch art kit to craft your own Christmas, Hanukah or Kwanzaa ornament. Kits available while supplies last. 

Wednesday, December 18, 2 p.m. 
 Club Create

Join us Wednesdays at 2 p.m. for Club Create, our weekly arts and crafts workshop for adults. We’ll create a holiday craft with our friends from Birmingham Museum of Arts. Avondale Youth Programs

Literary Elves on the Shelves 

Oh no! Overnight some of our favorite book characters have leapt from their pages and are up to mischief inside the library. It’s your job to find and identify the literary elves and add them to Santa’s naughty list. Look high, look low, who knows where they might go!

Five Points West Library presents a Holiday Open House featuring music, food, crafts, fun - and of course a visit by Santa Claus.  Musical artists Halo Wheeler and David Talley IV will kick off the event singing holiday tunes from noon to 1:00 p.m.
