Betty Smith is a Baptist minister, Sunday School teacher, Bible teacher, motivational speaker and a writer of church plays and skits. She’s a product of the Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible College.

In a Q&A with BPL PR Director Roy Williams, Betty Smith says she has a desire is to continue to use her gift of writing to inspire and motivate others.

BPL: Tell me about your books

Smith: My books are Christian Fiction. The Rise of TEHH was inspired in a since by Birmingham. A city back in the was a leading metropolis in Alabama. I was crushed when the city lost it’s glory. Stores losing, restaurants we loved closed, recreation, people leaving the city, etc. I would pray and aske the Lord if the city would come alive again. Then came the birth of this book.

Samson No Ordinary Superhero was inspired by the Samson in the Bible. When a present day young man name Samson meets the real Samson in the Bible, they go on a journey to rid his town of the present day Philistines.

BPL: What inspired you to write your book?

Smith:   Young people. In my younger years I would make up stories for the children. They enjoyed them so much so that when I came home from work, the children would come running up to me to tell them a story. Later in life I looked the books in the thrift stores.

If you had to look for me I would be there. I always said that I was going to have a book on the shelves of the thrift store before I thought about writing a book. It was the Lord Jesus Christ who said, “You need to write the book first.” Been writing every since.

BPL: What do you hope readers get out of your books?

Smith:  Understand that they have the power to make a difference in their homes, communities and their lives.

BPL: Any advice you would give for new authors or those desiring to become an author?

Smith:  Just write. Let the character take you where they want you to go.
