The Springville Road Regional Branch Library has received a makeover of new furniture and carpet thanks to a $25,000 donation from District 1 Birmingham City Councilwoman Lashunda Scales.

Business Interiors delivered several new pieces of furniture that was installed June 12 into the library at 1224 Old Springville Road. They included: 60 new chairs in the library’s meeting room; 8 large chairs and a table in the teen lounge area; 6 large chairs and a table in the adult lounge area; 2 large chairs in the lobby lounge area; 3 chairs in the library checkout area. In January, Springville Road Library used Scales’ donation to pay for the installation of new carpet in the children’s area.

The new furniture and carpet comes from $25,000 Scales presented to the Springville Road Library as part of a December 2016 Holiday Gala.

As the furniture was being installed, Councilor Scales said she is “very excited about the face-lift the Springville Road Library is receiving on behalf of the citizens of District One.”

“Springville Road Regional Library is the second most used library among the 19 libraries in the city and is deserving of an attractive atmosphere that is conducive to learning,” Scales said. “This new furniture and carpet will provide an inviting experience for our residents to come and celebrate the joy of reading. I am very thankful that we’re moving into the 21st century of learning for children, seniors, and adults of all ages, providing an environment that makes people eager to learn.”
