Week One of 2020 BPL Summer Learning Virtual is Underway

Details: BPL is hosting its Summer Learning programs online for the first time. Register at this link http://www.bplonline.org/SummerReading.aspx Craft materials will be provided at Five Points West, North Birmingham, Springville Road, and Avondale Libraries; pick up Wednesday prior to program date.

Week 1 of the Birmingham Public Library's 2020 Summer Learning is under way. Between now and July 30, the public will be able to participate in more than 60 free activities for kids, teens and adults.

Activities kicked off Monday, June 8, with Tot Time with Mrs. Eve and A Tale of Two Frogs, two programs for toddlers hosted virtually by Avondale Regional Branch Library.

On Tuesday, June 9, the BPL Southern History Department hosted an online Intro to Genealogy program and Avondale Library had the first performer of its Talent Tuesdays.

Today, Wednesday, June 10, at 10:00 a.m., Five Points West Regional Library storyteller Miss Fontaine hosted a story time, Ain’t Gonna Paint No More!, about a mischievous kid who goes a little wild with her paintbrush.

 From 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. today, June 10, on the BPL Facebook page, the McWane Science Center will do fun online experiments in a video made especially for the Birmingham Public Library system.

8:00 a.m. Time for Tales with Mrs. Corinne (On BPL Facebook page)
Join Mrs. Corinne Thursdays at 8:00 a.m. for a morning of stories, songs, and fun via Avondale Library Facebook page.

 10:00 – 11 a.m. Fit At Home with SERVED (On BPL Facebook page)

9:00 a.m. TEEN Challenge (Live on the Avondale Library Facebook page)

 Hey Teens, looking for something fun to do this summer? We’ve got you covered. Join us online Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. via Avondale Library Facebook page for a crash course of songwriting, forensic science, creative writing/storytelling, spa time, and more.

Friday, June 12 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Board Games (On BPL Facebook page)

Eastwood Library Branch Manager Vincent Solfronk will show various age-appropriate board games to play with children.
