Judy Woods of Operation HOPE offers free financial workshops at the Central Library downtown.

June is National Home Ownership Month. Judy Woods, a HUD-certified financial counselor at Operation HOPE, is offering a free homebuyers workshop at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday, June 8, inside the Central Library, 2100 Park Place in downtown Birmingham. Advanced registration is required. Free lunch will be provided. You can see how to register on the flyer at the beginning of this blog.

Woods says this free workshop offers an opportune time to reflect on the many benefits of owning your own home. Not only does homeownership provide a sense of pride and accomplishment, but it also sets you on the path to a more secure financial future.

Owning a home brings a great sense of accomplishment and pride, but it also has significant financial benefits. It is a big step towards a financially stable future.

As a HUD Certified Housing Counselor, I am here to guide you through the mortgage process and offer some valuable tips to make the entire experience less stressful," Wood said. "Together, let's make your dream of homeownership a reality!"

June is also a great time to conduct a mid-year review of your financial goals, Woods said.

"Assess your progress on savings, reducing debt and making necessary adjustments to your budget," Woods said. "What’s your plan? Let us help you."
