Adventure Begins at Titusville Library: 2024 Summer Reading Spotlight
Birmingham, Ala. - 2024 Summer Reading continues at the Birmingham Public Library. 16 BPL locations across the city are hosting 256 combined Summer Reading programs for kids, teens, adults and senior citizens during June and July. The 2024 theme is "Adventure Begins at Your Library."
BPL is spotlighting each of our library's Summer Reading programs. Today's spotlight is on Titusville Branch Library, #2 6th Avenue SW. Titusville Branch is hosting 23 programs: 9 for youth, 6 for teens, and 8 for adults- including several that have already happened.
Here are some Summer Reading programs for all ages happening this week (June 24-28) and throughout July, recommended by Titusville Branch Manager Reba Williams:
All ages (Youth, teens and adults)
Plastic Cup Mini Greenhouses - Today, Monday, June 24, 11:00 a.m. (adults) and 3:30 p.m. (youth)
Join the Titusville Branch for the recipe Gardening Fun. Plan seeds in a decorative plastic cup and watch them grow into plants.
Painted Rock Fireworks - Monday, July 1, 11:00 a.m. (adults), 3:30 p.m. (youth)
Get creative using rocks and red, white, and blue paint to decorate rocks for the July 4th fireworks.
Yarn Canvas Art Activities - Tuesday, July 9, 11:00 a.m. (adults) and 3:30 p.m. (youth)
In the Yarn Canvas Art program, express yourself by designing your own textured art using yarn of all colors.
Creative Suncatcher Crafts - Wednesday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m. (adults) and 3:30 p.m. (youth)
Design and decorate your own suncatcher using card stock, construction paper, glue and scissors.
DIY Grateful Rocks - Monday, July 22, 11:00 a,m. (adults), and 3:30 p.m. (youth)
Show gratitude at Titusville Branch. Paint rocks with your favorite colors and express what you are thankful for.
Youth programs
Paper Plate Mushrooms, 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9; repeats at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23
During the Paper Plate Mushrooms activity, use paper plate and some construction paper to make a fun mushroom.
Magnetic Fishing - Tuesday, July 30, 3:30 p.m.
Enjoy fishing together with fellow patrons. You might just fish up a nice prize.
Teen programs
Library Safari - Tuesday, July 25, 3:30 p.m.
Come on an adventurous trip through the jungle with us, and let's see what animals we find in the library.
Adult programs
Exercise class, Wednesday, July 3 from 9:15 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
Stop by Titusville branch and enjoy a healthy workout.
