UAB Economic Opportunity Center Trade Expo Happening Thursday, September 5 at the Central Library Downtown
The University of Alabama at Birmingham Economic Opportunity Center (EOC) is hosting its fall 2024 Trade Expo/Job Fair at the Central Library, 2100 Park Place in downtown Birmingham, on Thursday, September 5.
The free expo will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This event will give individuals an opportunity to explore life-changing trades, career and educational opportunities, said Rico Drakes, director of the UAB Economic Opportunity Center (EOC). Attendees will have the opportunity to sign for a trade or apply for jobs from various vendors on site.
Drakes said a trade or certification can significantly improve one's earning potential. Successfully obtaining these credentials can be a direct path to career opportunities, entrepreneurship and yes, owning your own business.
"Countless professionals have built careers, companies and businesses from trades," Drakes said. "The Trade Expo is a great opportunity for Adults and young adults to explore and sign up for trades, apprenticeships, internships, GED and more. Attendees will also have an opportunity to speak with employers regarding job openings and connect with resources such as Alabama's SNAP program and others."
