October Programs Highlighted by Classic Cocktails, a Magic City Classic Kickoff Fundraiser for BPL

The Birmingham Public Library is hosting a variety of programs during the month of October, highlighted by Let Loose in the Library: Classic Cocktails, a Magic City Classic Kickoff Party happening Tuesday, October 22 in the Central Library downtown.
Tickets to Classic Cocktails are $40 a person, and include a host of activities: Special cocktails, tailgate style-food, a cigar lounge, beer bar, and fun games. Lady Woo, a DJ with V-94.9 FM, and Jermaine "Funnymaine" Johnson, a comedian best known for his viral University of Alabama football fan videos, will serve as co-hosts.
Classic Cocktails is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Birmingham Public Library. Proceeds from the event help support all BPL locations and events throughout the year, including:
* BPL's popular monthly spoken word poetry event Bards & Brews
* The BPL Local Authors Expo, happening in November at the Central Library
* Storytime and afterschool activities for kids held at BPL locations across Birmingham
* The popular dance class for seniors held Fridays at Titusville Branch Library as well as its Titusville breast cancer awareness walk happening October 14
* Adult crafting sessions at libraries from Avondale to Springville Road.
* BPL's Art for Everyone Series which includes Leanna Leithauser-Lesley 's Shaken by the Roots needlepoint art exhibit on display in the Central Library's First Floor through September 30 and Roger Stephenson's blues photo art exhibit "Stop, Look & Listen" on display in the Central Library Fourth Floor Gallery.
