2025 Summer Reading Spotlight: Five Points West Library Youth & Teen Programs


Throughout June and July, 17 BPL locations across the city will host more than 200 free Summer Reading programs for children, teens, adults, and seniors. Registration for Summer Reading is available at any BPL location.

Relief Print Making  

📅 Date/Time: Tuesday, July 8 | 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM 

Create indented art prints with aluminum foil, then paint and stamp them to create art. For elementary-aged students. 24 hour advanced notice required.   

Color Mixing and  "Cover Design"

📅 Date/Time: Wednesday, July 9  | 3:30 PM 

In this craft activity, participants will pick a book by its cover, using it to mix new colors. Then they will use their color palette to design a cover for their favorite book, movie or magazine.     

McWane Science Center: "Lights, Camera, Science" 

📅 Date/Time: Thursday, July 10 | 10:30 AM  

Join McWane Science Center on a back stage tour of art through the ages, from the Stone Age to today. 24-hour advanced notice is appreciated.

Alabama Ballet Discovery  

📅 Date/Time: Wednesday, July 15  | 10:30 AM

The Alabama Ballet presents a look inside the daily life of a ballet dancer, from ballet technique to costumes and pointe shoes. The program concludes with a performance by the Alabama Ballet Company dancers. 24-hour advanced registration requested.
