Tech Tutoring is Available Weekly at Woodlawn Branch Library

Did you know that BPL's Woodlawn Branch Library offers free tech help tutoring appointments every week? Available Tuesdays (2:00 - 3:00 PM) and Fridays (3:00 - 4:00 PM) on a first-come-first-serve basis, these free sessions aim to help our patrons learn basic technology skills and build confidence using devices like computers, tablets, and phones.

Digital literacy is essential for navigating the world today. The Woodlawn Branch Library created this program several months ago in the hopes of better serving our community’s needs and interests by helping them learn how to navigate technology more effectively and efficiently.

Sign up for appointments at the Woodlawn Branch Library by calling (205) 595-2001 or in person at 5701 First Ave North. You can reserve a 30-minute session on a topic of your choice: a specific task or general basic skills. Bring your own device (laptop, computer, or phone) or learn on a library device. Reserving time in advance allows staff members to provide full attention to helping you learn and answering your specific questions.

Once you arrive for your appointment, if you selected general basic skills as your topic, we would start by going through a basic skills inventory to get a baseline for where to start.

It is okay to be nervous about learning new things, but know that our staff at Woodlawn Branch Library is excited to help you. We too were once beginners!

We understand that everyone learns at their own pace and in their own way, and are happy to answer questions and practice skills multiple times, if needed. And remember, you can always sign up for another appointment!

Call the Woodlawn Branch Library at (205) 595-2001 to make your appointment today or check out the BPL calendar to find technology tutoring at another branch near you.
