North Avondale Library Hosts Meet Your Librarian Program

Young patrons at North Avondale Library gained personal insight into life of a librarian, courtesy of Branch Manager Saundra Ross.

Several students from Hayes K-8 School, located adjacent to the library, have gotten to know Ross and her staff well over the years by attending after-school programs held there. Recently, the students interviewed Ross about her job.

Ross shared with the students some of the duties librarians do, such as stocking shelves and answering questions from patrons. She also gave the students interesting information such as the number of inventory - including books and DVDs - available for check out at North Avondale Library.

Ross talked about her passion for being a librarian, and how she gets joy out of helping patrons find books and other items to check out. The students listened intently, and asked insightful follow-up questions.

Now, thanks to Ross, the students have a better idea of the important role libraries plan in BPL's 19 locations across Birmingham.
