Birmingham Public Library Adds the World Trade Press AtoZ Database Collection to Online Reference Collection


The Birmingham Public Library is pleased to announce that it has recently added the World Trade Press AtoZ Database Collection to its online reference offerings.

Patrons of the Birmingham Public Library can access the World Trade Press A to Z Collection using the library’s computers, or from anywhere in the world from BPL's online database portal  by using their library card. 

This new library database collection contains the following resources: 

Global Road Warrior 

This database contains country guides for each of 175 countries worldwide. Each of the 175 country guides covers 119 topics including culture, banking, business, demographics, education, food, history, holidays and festivals, travel, language, money, points of interest, religion, security, and national symbols. 

The Global Road Warrior database was designed for students doing country reports, educators, travelers, and anyone who wants to learn about the world and its diverse cultures. 

AtoZ Maps Online

This library resource is the world’s largest database of downloadable, royalty-free maps for student and library patron use. More than 100,000 maps are available in 48 categories. 

Users will find world, regional, country, and state maps as well as environmental, climate, antique and other maps. The database also contains extensive teaching tools for educators with lesson plans. It even has interactive video guides for state, country, and world geography.

AtoZ Maps Online was designed for libraries, educators, businesses, travelers and anyone who needs a royalty-free map for school and other projects.

ABC the USA 

This database is an unmatched resource for information about the people, culture, geography, government, history, indigenous peoples, food, and symbols of the US states and the United States itself.

The database covers 110 topics for each state, territory, and the District of Columbia, and 118 topics for the USA as a country.

ABC the USA was designed for students, educators, and anyone who wants to develop an in-depth understanding of the USA.

AtoZ World Culture 

This library resource includes 121 topics for 175 countries. Starting with a country snapshot and cultural overview, topics include climate; food and recipes; history; language; maps; money and much more.

AtoZ World Culture includes teaching tools and lesson plans for educators.

 AtoZ World Culture was designed for researchers, educators, travelers, global businesses, government agencies¬ and anyone who wants to learn about the world and its diverse cultures.

AtoZ World Travel 

This library resource includes 202 world city travel guides covering 67 topics each. The travel guides cover a multitude of topics that are of interest to those planning their international travel. 

Topics include pre-trip planning, points of interest, excursions, neighborhoods, restaurants, nightlife, as well as health and safety. AtoZ World Travel was designed for world travelers, schools and universities, global businesses, and anyone who wants to prepare for their trip abroad.

AtoZ World Food 

This database contains more than 7,000 traditional recipes from 174 countries, along with thousands of ingredients, food culture, and reference articles, making it the largest food database of its kind. AtoZ World Food was designed for culinary institutes, students, world travelers, cooking clubs, adventurous eaters, and anyone who wants to learn about world cuisine without having to purchase individual country cookbooks. 

LingoLITE 

This library resource helps users learn basic words and phrases in 30 languages using interactive native speaker videos. LingoLITE is a vocabulary builder and contains thousands of native speaker video clips in 30 languages including Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese, Chinese, Farsi, Hindi, German, Swahili, Thai, and 18 others. The LingoLITE system helps users learn vocabulary up to four times faster than any other method. 

LingoLITE was designed anyone who wants to learn basic terms and phrases in a new language. The resource has glossaries for greetings, introductions, food, transportation, relations, numbers, and more.

AtoZ Food America 

This exciting new resource contains more than 2,000 state, regional, and ethnic recipes—including food culture articles—as well as historical and reference articles including an ingredients section.

 AtoZ Food America is the largest food database of its kind focused solely on diverse American cuisine. 

 AtoZ Food America also enables users to forward recipes to friends by email and even create their own personal cookbook of favorite recipes. 

 AtoZ Food America was designed for culinary institutes, students, world travelers, cooking clubs, adventurous eaters, and anyone who wants to learn about American cuisine without having to purchase multiple individual cookbooks.
