Young patrons enjoyed last week's summer reading program Build A Bird House at West End Branch Library! There are more programs this week, like a board game tournament, step classes, chair yoga classes, a variety of crafts, and more.

Some programs have deadlines this week or require registration before the event. Make sure you don't miss out on these upcoming Oceans of Possibilities programs at the Birmingham Public Library (BPL)!

Ocean View Tiny Art Show

Tiny art submissions are due this week! Make a big splash when your masterpiece is displayed in Five Points West Library's first-ever Tiny Art Exhibit. Create an ocean-themed painting with acrylic paints and a 3x3 canvas that we provide. Kits are available at the circulation desk beginning June 1 and final submissions are due by June 30.

Rooted in African culture, the art of stepping utilizes claps, stomps, and chants to create rhythms and visual patterns with the body. In this class, students will learn a brief history of the dance form, basic step movements, and listening and teambuilding skills. These fundamentals will be coupled with a dash of showmanship to create a fun, energetic step!

In this class, Springville Road Library will conduct two different experiments. In their first experiment, attendees will learn what makes a boat float and then attempt to create a boat that won't sink! The second experiment involves making a hurricane-proof house, so patrons can learn about hurricanes and how buildings are designed to withstand forces of nature.

TGIF Crafts

Quilting

Participants are taught one new quilting block each month. All materials provided!

Tour De Route Springville!

Springville Road Regional Branch Library | 1224 Old Springville Rd

Starts at 2:00 p.m.

Come to the Youth Department and enter the Tour De France! Instead of bicycles and a trip to France, we will be using the board game Flamme Rouge to re-create the actual tour course. We will be following different stages each week, keeping track of placing. Everyone who participates will get a prize, and the winner of the tour will get a Grande Prize!

Players need to be ages 8+ to participate and attend all four days. Space is limited, and registration is required. Call 205-226-4085 to register.
