Ronnesha Hughes is a master's level therapist and licensed as an Associated Licensed Counselor. She developed an early interest in mental health during her first year at Lawson State Community College where she first majored in Biology with a minor in Psychology in 2088. She later received her associate's degree in 2010 and furthered her studies at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she majored in Psychology with a Minor in Biology.

Throughout her academic career at Lawson State Community College and The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Hughes knew that the passion was there, but it truly ignited once she furthered her studies to earn her master's degree at The University of Montevallo in Montevallo, AL. She is a very passionate advocate for mental health, and she works constantly in bringing awareness to the issue that heavily affects our community.

Hughes has been in the mental health field since 2015. She was afforded the opportunity to work under great clinicians to gain a lot of hands-on training. After working in mental health under other great agencies, she birthed her private practice, Purpose Counseling Services.

Purpose Counseling Services was forged through faith and believes everything is intentional. Purpose Counseling Services provides therapy to help heal and identify purpose, allowing patients to live out God's plan for them. Hughes is a therapist, motivational speaker, mentor, and entrepreneur.

World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10 and aims to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilize efforts in support of mental health. Join Smithfield Library as they celebrate World Mental Health Day with Ronnesha Hughes!
