North Birmingham Regional Branch Library Is Packed With Programs This February
February will not only feature our regular programs, such as Slide City (line dancing); Stich and Chat (quilting); and Stop, Drop, and Breathe (meditation); but also new and exciting programs celebrating Black History Month and Valentine's Day.
Is there a special person in your life you'd like to celebrate? Starting Thursday, February 2, we'll have Valentine's Day Grab and Go crafts available for both kids and adults. Kids may have an especially fun time with Eatable Creations, where they can decorate a delicious cookie for their Valentine—if they don't eat it themselves first. Our Valentine's Day festivities will culminate in a party on Tuesday, February 14. We'll have music, refreshments, and a variety of activities for patrons to enjoy.
We have even more programs lined up for Black History Month, starting with our Black Resistance Film Festival every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. If you enjoy thoughtful films about pressing social issues, this is the program for you!
Our youth department has been working especially hard to bring a host of Black History programming to our young patrons. They'll have a scavenger hunt, bingo, storytime, art classes, and a variety of Grab and Go crafts and activities. We also have two new programs coming to the library:
- Black Resistance: Standing Up for What's Right on Thursday, February 23
- Taste of Nigeria on Friday, February 24
The former will include an educational talk on Black historical figures hosted by the youth department, followed by a discussion on times we've all had to stand up for what's right. The latter program is geared toward our fashion-forward guests, who can enjoy a night of African-inspired fashions while enjoying Nigerian cuisine.
Whatever your interests, North Birmingham staff has you covered!
