$5 Fines Coupon Offered During National Library Week to Show Our Appreciation

National Library Week will be observed April 7–13, 2019, with the theme "Libraries = Strong Communities."

Celebrate this special week with a coupon good April 7–13, 2019, at any library in Jefferson County. This coupon is good for up to $5 off your overdue charges; not applicable for lost/damaged item charges. One coupon per library holder.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is an observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries—school, public, academic, and special—participate.

The Birmingham Public Library is encouraging our patrons to observe National Library Week by participating in a reading challenge celebrating diversity through literature. Read more about BPL's Libraries = Strong Communities Reading Challenge.

If you have ever visited a library to research a paper, enjoy a program, view an art exhibit, check out materials, explore your family tree, learn a skill, access free PCs and Wi-Fi, and more—then you know what a critical link the public library is to the community.
