Book Review: The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

By Catherine Oseas Champion | Archives and Manuscripts Department, Central Library

I know this book won't be everyone's cup of tea. Coming in just under 500 pages, Erin Morgenstern's The Starless Sea can be a little daunting. And the prose themselves take some time to get used to.

That being said, this book is a love letter to stories and storytelling. To myths and fables. And, perhaps most importantly, to imagination. This prose are haunting and magical. The story itself is the kind of whimsy only Erin Morgenstern can achieve. This is a story in which something new can be discovered every time you read it. I plan of reading its 500 magical pages again!

Truly a breathtaking novel.

5/5; would recommend.
