Bards & Brews Celebrates International Beer Day At Carrigan's Beer Garden, Friday, Aug 5

Celebrate International Beer Day with Bards & Brews at our Open Mic on Friday, August 5, 6:00—8:00 p.m. at Carrigan's Beer Garden! 

Local percussionist Barry Johnson is opening the night with a drum solo you don't want to miss.

Bards & Brews Open Mic is free to attend and perform. Attendees must be 18 and up to attend and 21 and up with proof of I.D. to drink.

Bards & Brews is back after a short break and relishing the last month of summer with an Open Mic at Carrigan's Beer Garden on International Beer Day, Friday, August 5.

Sponsored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts, Bards & Brews hosts some of the Birmingham metro area's most talented poets to share their original poetry and other spoken word arts.

Each Bards & Brews has an opening guest entertainer. Before poets take the stage, Barry Johnson is opening the night with a solo drum performance. 

Barry Johnson is a local drummer and leading member of Sahi On Ko Djony, a West African cultural enrichment program. Named after a Fulani term, Sahi On Ko Djony translates to "the time is now." Carrigan's has three locations across Birmingham—one of them being the lush beer garden in Lakeview. Previously Brat Brot, Carrigan's Beer Garden offers an impressive and tasty selection of beers and food that guests can enjoy in the whimsical atmosphere. Misting fans on the patio keep the plants watered and cool down guests and their dogs, too, so that you can fully enjoy sitting outdoors.
