The local SCORE chapter began offering monthly classes at the Central Library in 2015 with an emphasis on explaining the steps involved in starting a business in Alabama. Class instructors are veteran small business owners in the Birmingham area who have practical experience in developing an idea for a business, registering with the state and filing for the correct licenses, writing a business plan, seeking funding, identifying customers, and developing a brand identity.

If you are thinking about taking the entrepreneurial plunge, a good way to assess your readiness is by attending SCORE Simple Steps to Starting Your Business. The class will be offered on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except December) from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the Arrington Auditorium at the Birmingham Public Library's Central location. Each class will cover the same topics, but those who are interested are welcome to attend more than one day. To register for a class, please follow this link
