BPL Librarian Chelsea Rodriguez Authors New Children's Book "Glow"
There is a new author working at the Birmingham Public Library (BPL)! Librarian Ⅰ Chelsea Rodriguez recently wrote a new children's book, Glow. This cute picture book is intended for young readers and tells the story of a racoon who is fascinated with all things that glow.
Rodriguez works in the Central Library's Youth Department as a librarian and storyteller. She is also part of the Outreach Team, so you may see her on BPL Mobile or at events across the city. She has worked at the BPL for five years.
This is her first published book! Rodriguez was inspired to write this book after she saw a raccoon hanging out on the roof of a wedding venue during the sparkler send off for the couple. A sparkler might be a bit much for a raccoon, but Chelsea Rodriguez thought a glow stick would be just right for the critter.
From the author:
"What happens when a raccoon finds a glowstick and follows a firefly through the woods on a warm summer night? This story encourages young readers to build reading skills while enjoying a silly story with fun pictures."
You will have to read the book to find out what happens to our raccoon friend.
Glow is available for purchase on Ingram, Amazon, and Kindle. You can also find a copy available in our catalog for checkout at all Jefferson County Library Cooperative members, including all BPL locations.By Cheyenne Trujillo | Library Assistant Ⅲ, Public Relations
