BPL 2023 Summer Reading Spotlight: Smithfield Branch Library

Birmingham, Ala. - From a giveaway of clothing, shoes and other personal items for those in need to McWane Science Center activity sharing how scientists fight pandemics and operate a space station, Smithfield Branch Library has 14 free activities for patrons of all ages happening this summer. They are among nearly 250 Summer Reading programs taking place at Birmingham Public Library locations across the city.

 * FREE - TO - SHOP Mobile Store - Thursday, June 15 and Wednesday, July 19, both times at 10:00 a.m. in the Smithfield Library parking lot 

 Smithfield Branch, in cooperation with "BE Kind Birmingham," will be giving away clothes, shoes, and personal items. Keep your eye on us as we constantly discover new ways to serve you! 



 * McWane Science Center Partners in Science, Monday, June 26, 10:00 a.m.

 Science needs a lot of people working together to tackle everything from fighting pandemics to operating a space station. See how scientists have solved these problems, with a little help from their friends.

 * You Matter! Friday, June 30, 10:00 a.m.

 Join Jan the Science Lady of Dynamic Adventures for an exciting and engaging exploration of the states of matter! This fizzing, bubbling, exploding show will be full of cool chemical reactions. All together now for some simple science fun! See you there! Snacks served.

 * Make your mark with Lydia: Summer Edition, Thursday,  July 6, 2:00 p.m. 

Join Lydia Walker from the Birmingham Museum of Art on the Smithfield outside plaza as she inspires you to make the world your canvas. Snacks served. 

 * Therapy through Art: Summer Edition - Tuesday, July 18, 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

Join the Cohill Foundation in the Smithfield meeting room as we embark upon an opportunity to put personal touches to creations of art. Snacks will be served.
